Get ready to get your adrenaline on. This place has multiple attractions. Some not for the faint of heart. Like the hundred foot free fall or the tower zip lines. But don’t worry, there’s plenty to do for everyone. Maybe your mildly adventurous. There are two sets of rock walls, one even plunges into a pool. And some smaller rope courses as well as lower zip lines. Oh, You’re looking for just a casual day outdoors. No problem. You can check out a kayak or paddle board Head down to the Catawba River for a nice float. Or pick up one of the bikes and have a nice ride on one of the many trails. If you just want to relax. Towards the end of the day they start playing great live music. With the music, a little food and beverage and the water running in the background. It all makes for a great end of the day.

Tips & Tricks-
1) Book your whitewater rafting tour right away. You can book the first available tour at no cost. If you want to book more at the same time it’s extra. But once you complete the ride you can rebook at no charge.

2) It’s gets hot 🥵 in the summer. There are no fans. Shade – Sunscreen – WATER!!!

3) They allow GoPro’s as long as they are securely mounted on the helmet. And you will be checked at quite a few checkpoints.

PS. If any management happens to see this. First I want to say thank you so much for allowing GoPros to come in and record. That made this video possible. second, I would like to say the staff was extremely polite and very well trained. I felt safe with the multiple checkpoints. And the entire park was clean and staff well organized. If there were any improvements that I could see as an outsider. They would be. Fans Misting Fans even better. Especially up on the towers with your employees. But you’re doing an amazing job. Thank you!

How it works…

1) Park at the end point of your trip…
2) Get equipped with all safety equipment, jackets and paddles…
3) Do an orientation talk and take a picture of the map…
4) Next, catch a shuttle upstream to your boat…
5) At the launch we help you get into your boat and review any questions…
6) Then take your time paddling back to your vehicle.
7) At the end we take the boat and equipment… and you are home-free to go!

Easy as that!!!!!

The Grand River is shallow and great for first time and non-swimmers… water temperature is 20-24C.

Choose from up to 9 different types of boats.

Located near Paris, Ontario… half way between London and Toronto.

We have 3 trips on the Grand River near Paris… the 5km Five Oaks Trip… the 11km Glen Morris Trip… and the 13km Paris Trip.

We also offer one more paddling route 1 hour away near Long Point on Lake Erie, this is called the Canadian Amazon.

For hourly and day rentals we have two locations at Guelph Lake near Guelph… and at Brant Park near Brantford.

The Ultimate Grand Canyon Rafting Trip

lifestyle No Comments »

Park Junkie joins Jonny Zion and a band of brazen boatmen to explore 280 miles of the Colorado River, right through the heart of Grand Canyon National Park.

The journey took 17 days and provided an intimate introduction to the Grand Canyon’s most remote and rarely explored points of interest.

Water levels were high, as the 22/23 winter was the snowiest on record in many of the mountains whose runoff feed the Colorado, so our crew was blessed with a continuous 18,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) for the canyon’s entire length.

The rapids were big & a few were downright scary. While the canyon allowed safe passage on this voyage, we were not completely spared carnage, as Lava Falls struck with a quick but jarring uppercut that provided enough excitement for the entire journey.

We ran with 7 boats, an 18’ dory & a collection of rafts, all of which were outfitted by Brian Gillespe at Jordan River Boat Works, headquartered in Francis, Utah. Check out his lineup of boats & accessories via his Instagram page: @jordanriverboatworks

Enjoy the film, and if you’d like to learn more about the world’s Grandest Canyon, check out my guide to the park, right here at https://parkjunkie.com/parks/grand-canyon/

Please be aware, public access to the Grand Canyon is currently under threat. Entrenched bureaucrats have teamed up with corporate interests to restrict access to the park’s entire northwestern rim, requiring rec dot gov reservations and permits to enter a remote and rarely visited section of the park known as Toroweap.

Toroweap is a beautiful area, and offers the adventurous traveler the most spectacular of Grand Canyon views. It lies at the end of a 60-mile, one-way dirt road, and receives little traffic.

Concerned citizens can write their elected officials to protest this move, and can use forms I have provided in the links below.

Those who would like to send a message to their elected representatives in the House and the Senate can now visit the Democracy IO link below, which provides a quick, painless method by which you can find and message your reps in a matter of seconds.

Just go to the link below, as well as the Google Doc linked below that, copy the FLREA Letter to Reps in Google Docs, then paste that into the comment section in the Democracy IO link. This takes less than two minutes, and you’ll rest well, knowing that you took action to affect change for the benefit of future generations of our people.

American River offering 'once in a lifetime' rafting conditions above Folsom Lake, company says

lifestyle No Comments »

While multiple signs are displayed along the American River discouraging boating, rafting and swimming below Folsom Lake, the situation above Folsom Lake is very different. Demand is high for guided whitewater rafting trips in the churning, rolling, fast-moving conditions throughout the Foothills. “People are coming out to phenomenal conditions. They’ve never seen anything like this,” said Chad Richards of Wet River Trips. “This is a once-in-a-decade, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” The river flows through Coloma are among the top five conditions since 1998, according to Richards. KCRA 3’s Mike TeSelle reports.

One of the best wilderness rafting rivers in California, the Middle Fork of the American features world-famous Class 3 and 4 rapids inside a 2000-foot deep canyon. This river is just a short drive from Sacramento, yet is completely remote. Come along, as we explore the top 5 rapids on the Middle Fork!

In the number 5 spot is Chunder. The Class 4 rating for this short and abrupt rapid comes from an exciting six foot drop at the top. Paddlers line up their raft, then get down to ride out the plunge. Crewmembers must quickly get back into position, as Ruck-A-Chucky Falls lies just below.

Coming in at number 4 is the infamous Ruck-A-Chucky Falls. Instead of running this Class 6 rapid in the rafts, guests hike around it on the shore and watch our guides send the boats down empty. “Why?” you ask? Well for starters, it’s a 30-foot waterfall that cascades over sharp, shallow rocks. Ruck-A-Chucky portage is quite the spectacle and a highlight of each trip.

Number 3 is Kanaka. This technical Class 4 rapid will put your crew’s skills to the test. It’s got drops, rocks, bumps, and waves, and is a great example of what makes California’s rapids so famous

Second place goes to Bus Crash (aka Lettuce Hole). Rafts navigate this Class 4 rapid through a shallow entrance, before paddling between two large rocks and into a wave train at the bottom. Run this rapid well, and you’ll have a blast. Make a mistake, and you’ll know where this rapid got its name from!

Our top rapid on the Middle Fork is undoubtedly Tunnel Chute. This legendary Class 4+ rapid was created by Gold Rush miners, who blasted a narrow chute and a wide tunnel through a mountain to divert the river and access large gold deposits. It’s an absolute roller coaster! After lining up at the top, paddlers sit in the bottom of the boat to enjoy the ride. After the final drop, the river calms down and rafts continue through the river tunnel toward more adventure ahead.

The Middle Fork has many other memorable rapids that can be enjoyed on a 1, 2, or 3-day wilderness trip. If you’ve rafted this stunning river before, let us know your favorite rapid in the comments. If you have yet to explore this California whitewater gem, visit our website or give us a call. We’ll see you on the river!
